Anyone who has no faith in God, no hope in God, and no love of God cannot go to heaven because heaven would be hell to him. He could not endure or enjoy the presence of God after death anymore than he did before death. Faith, hope, and charity are the three legs of a single tripod that supports the whole Christian life.
In this faith I intend to live and die. Amen. Act of Hope O Lord God, I hope by your grace for the pardon of all my sins and after life here to gain eternal happiness because you have promised it who are infinitely powerful, faithful, kind, and merciful. In this hope I intend to live and die. Amen. Act of Love O Lord God, I love you above all
Faith, Love, and Trust. Faith is tied to righteousness. Or, by another name, to justification. As in, “The righteous shall live by faith,” and, “without faith it is impossible to please him [God] …”. Faith establishes a believer’s righteousness. And not, by the way, as a choice of the will but as a heartfelt response to God’s love.
Hope is always accompanied by faith. Faith is almost always accompanied by hope- but not always. It is a matter of primacy-not temporal but axiological. People need to have faith because they need hope. And so we have that : a) it is not the case that (3) people have hope because they need to have faith.
Along with faith and love, hope is an enduring virtue of the Christian life (1 Corinthians 13:13), and love springs from hope (Colossians 1:4-5). Hope produces joy and peace in believers through the power of the Spirit (Romans 12:12; 15:13). Paul attributes his apostolic calling to the hope of eternal glory (Titus 1:1-2).
